Â
After a scoreless first quarter, Monmouth broke through with an 18-play, 99-yard drive that consumed 7 minutes, 41 seconds – the Hawks' longest scoring drive of the season in plays, yards and time.
Frankie Weaver capped the possession with an 11-yard touchdown pass to
Kenny Smith Jr. to give Monmouth a 7-0 lead. Hampton answered with a 76-yard run by Donovan Shepard that set up a 1-yard touchdown run by quarterback Xavier Brookins to tie the game at 7.

Â
Weaver found
Tra Neal for an 8-yard touchdown early in the third quarter, then connected with
Shane Garrett for a 5-yard score to make it 28-7. The latter touchdown came on a trick play, as Treadwell took a sweep and pitched the ball to Neal, who tossed it back to Weaver. The quarterback then found Garrett wide open in the end zone.

Â
Elijah Jennings opened the fourth-quarter scoring with a 1-yard touchdown run before Smith Jr. broke free for a 70-yard touchdown – Monmouth's longest rush of the season – to push the lead to 42-7. Hampton added a touchdown pass from Tre'Von Taylor to TK Paisant, but
Greg Randall answered with a 3-yard scoring run for the first touchdown of his career, capping the scoring with 1:53 remaining.

Brad Seiss made his collegiate debut, completing both pass attempts for 33 yards, including a 29-yarder by
Burke Mickelsen, while leading the final touchdown drive.
Â

Defensively, Monmouth held Hampton to 249 total yards and 11 first downs, the fewest allowed by the Hawks' defense against an opponent this season. Outside of Shepard's 76-yard run, the Pirates managed just 27 net rushing yards on their other 23 carries.
Jake Davis,
Bryce Rooks and
Jahide Lesaine Jr. each recorded a sack as Monmouth finished with three.
