Monmouth Men’s Golf Finishes in Top Half of Field at Bucknell Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Monmouth University men's golf team tied for eighth at the Bucknell Invitational, hosted by Bucknell at Bucknell Golf Club Monday and Tuesday.

The Hawks finished tied for eighth in the 18-team field after the tournament was shortened to 36 holes due to weather. Monmouth carded 28 birdies and posted a team scoring average of 282.5 per round, improving by 16.5 strokes from its performance at the same event last season. The Hawks finished tied for 17th in a 19-team field in 2025.

Freshman Will Nagelvoort led Monmouth with a career-best 13th-place tie, finishing at 1-under-par 139. Nagelvoort was the only Hawk to finish under par for the tournament, continuing a strong start to his collegiate career.

Patrick Scenna opened the tournament with a 3-under-par 67, tying for sixth after the first round. Scenna recorded five birdies in the round, matching his career high for birdies in a single round. Three Hawks – Scenna, Nagelvoort and Patrick Sharpe – shot par or better in the opening round.

Sharpe continued his strong start to the season, tying for 28th. His even-par 70 in the opening round marked a new career-best round. Luke Schaal carded a 1-under-par 33 on the back nine in both rounds, while Dallas Vinson made his collegiate debut competing as an individual.

Quote
"Unfortunately, we were cut to 36 holes, but we can't control the weather. We have a lot of guys playing good golf. Patrick Sharpe has been very steady, and I'm really impressed with how well Will has adapted to college golf. It's good to see his hard work come to fruition." – Head Coach Andrew DeYoung
