WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The Monmouth men's basketball team lost at home for the first time this season, falling to Quinnipiac, 85-75, on Wednesday evening inside the OceanFirst Bank Center.

Five players scored in double figures for the Hawks (5-7, 0-0 CAA), the most in a game this season, but the Bobcats shot 52 percent from the floor, allowing the visitors to walk away with the convincing victory.

The Hawks started the game 2-of-9 from the floor and trailed 9-4 after four minutes. Down 11-6, Collins drained the team's first three-pointer of the game before the Bobcats exploded for an 8-2 run to go up 19-11 with 13 minutes to play. Quinnipiac extended the lead to 37-17 after 12 minutes of action.

The Hawks rattled off a 9-3 run, capped by a three from Andrew Ball, to get back within 14 with six minutes left in the half. The Bobcats hit their sixth three-pointer of the opening period to take a 49-34 edge at the break, capping off a half where the visitors shot 55 percent from the field.

Quinnipiac started the second half 6-of-7 and scored 12 of the first 14 second half points to open up its largest lead of the game, 62-36. A pair of threes from Jason Rivera-Torres ended the run, as he became the first Hawk to reach double figures. Ball scored on a driving layup, giving him 11 points on the evening, igniting the Hawks to connect on seven-straight field goals. The Bobcats stayed hot throughout the Monmouth run, hitting four of five to maintain a 72-52 lead with under 12 minutes to play.

The Hawks ended the game on a 12-1 run, but the Bobcats were able to close out an 85-75 triumph, snapping the Hawks' five-game winning streak in the series between the two schools.
