QUICK BULLETS
  • Monmouth travels to Easton, Pa., for the Lafayette Classic (Nov. 28-30), where the Hawks will face Ball State, Le Moyne and Lafayette.
  • Freshman Stefanos Spartalis knocked down two free throws with 8.6 seconds left in overtime to lift Monmouth to a 71-70 win over Robert Morris on Sunday afternoon at the OceanFirst Bank Center. The Colonials forced overtime with a late bucket in regulation and built a five-point lead in the extra period, but the Hawks responded to secure their first victory over RMU since 2009.
  • Monmouth ranks fourth nationally in blocks per game, averaging 7.4.
  • Three Hawks are averaging double figures this season, led by Spartalis (15.0), Justin Ray (13.8) and Jason Rivera-Torres (13.2) through five games.
  • Ray recorded 25 points against Syracuse and 18 points in the win over Robert Morris. The South Carolina native is 12-for-22 from beyond-the-arc this season.
  • Following an impressive two-game stretch, Spartalis was named CAA Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday.
