Final Score

North Carolina A&T (2-9, 2-5 CAA) – 19

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Frankie Weaver threw for a career-high 428 yards and six touchdowns, and No. 12/12 Monmouth surged to its largest offensive output of the season in a 63-19 win over North Carolina A&T on Saturday at Truist Stadium.

Monmouth (9-2, 6-1 CAA) scored touchdowns on its first three possessions and never trailed, piling up 696 yards of total offense - the most by any CAA team this season. Weaver completed 19-of-27 passes without an interception, connecting with six different receivers and hitting four scoring strikes of 26 yards or longer. His performance marked his first 400-yard passing game of his young career.

Running back Rodney Nelson powered the ground game with 163 yards and three touchdowns on 23 carries, averaging 7.1 yards per attempt. Nelson opened the scoring with a six-yard run on Monmouth's first drive, added a two-yard touchdown just before halftime, and broke loose for a 26-yard score late in the third quarter as the Hawks continued to pull away. He finished with his ninth 100-yard game of the season. The Hawks are 9-0 in games this season when Nelson finishes in triple digits for rushing yardage.

Monmouth's receivers also delivered big-play production throughout the afternoon. TJ Speight led all targets with a career-best 162 yards and two touchdowns, including a 62-yard strike in the opening quarter and a 53-yard score early in the third. Maxwell James added 102 yards and a 71-yard touchdown, while tight end Jack Neri hauled in a 26-yard score. Wideout Josh Derry recorded two touchdowns, bringing his season total to 12 and tying Miles Austin's 2003 program record.

The Hawks' defense matched the offense's efficiency, holding the Aggies (2-9, 2-5) to just 178 passing yards and 145 on the ground. Monmouth surrendered only one touchdown – a three-yard run by quarterback Kevin White in the second quarter – matching its lowest total allowed this season. The Hawks recorded seven tackles for loss and three sacks, while defensive backs broke up a triad of passes and limited A&T to 4-of-14 on third down.

Monmouth scored 21 points in each of the first three quarters and led 56-13 after Derry's second touchdown with 4:50 left in the third. The Hawks' only empty quarter came in the fourth, with the game well in hand.
