WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Monmouth University quarterback
Derek Robertson sustained an injury to his non-throwing hand/wrist during the third quarter of the Hawks' 49-21 win over Stony Brook on October 18.
Robertson has begun a structured rehabilitation program and will remain under ongoing medical observation. He is currently considered week-to-week for a return to action.
Through eight games this season, Robertson has help lead Monmouth to a 7-1 record, including a perfect 4-0 mark in Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) play. The Hawks are currently ranked No. 9 in the AFCA Coaches Poll – the highest poll ranking in program history – and No. 10 in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25, while also earning the No. 9 spot in the FCS Championship Committee Midseason Rankings released on October 15.
The New York native continues to rank among the top quarterbacks in the nation, leading the FCS in passing yardage (2,482) and touchdowns (27) while completing over 71 percent of his attempts. A member of the Walter Payton Award Watch List, he has Monmouth positioned as one of the most efficient offensive units in college football and is on pace for a career-best statistical season.
