Lehigh (0-1) – 1

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Five different Hawks scored a goal as the Monmouth University Field Hockey Team won its opening game of the 2024 season 5-1 over Lehigh.

Sofia Fouces, the preseason Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Offensive Player of the Year, scored the first goal of the game and season for Monmouth 5:57 into the first quarter, marking her 19th goal in as many career games. Fouces added an assist to her day on freshman Claire Campen's first career goal just 3:04 later.

Campen was among three Monmouth freshmen who registered their first career goal on Saturday. Stella Goddard-Despot found the back of the cage in the 23rd minute of the contest off a feed from senior Jess Tucker as the Hawks rode a 3-0 lead into the half. Milla Frye scored on a penalty stroke in the fourth for the game's final goal and added a defensive save in the fourth.

Sophomore Anna Moors also recorded a goal for the Hawks, converting on one of MU's six corner attempts. Calista Schwartz and Libby Doehner were credited with assists on the play.

Goalkeeper Jessie Eiselin picked up right where she left off in 2023 with 10 saves on 11 shots faced to help lead the Hawks to their first win of 2024.
