Monmouth Wins Doubles Point But Falls at Wagner

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The Monmouth University women's tennis team fell at Wagner College 4-1 on Saturday evening. 
 
The Hawks got off to a good start by capturing the doubles point in the match. 
 
Lenien Jamir and Lauren Landstrom captured a 6-3 win over Jade Schoenfeld and Paula Ysabella Uy at third doubles. Lana Brezanin and Hana McKinney teamed up for the doubles clinching point, a 6-4 win over Samantha Bentsianov and Dariana Vera at second doubles.
 
The Hawks were locked in several close hard fought singles matches but were unable to come out on top. At third singles, Jamir forced a third set tiebreaker. She went down 7-2 in the tiebreaker before battling back to tie things at 7-7. Jamir ultimately fell 10-8 in the tiebreaker.
 
The Hawks led in both singles matches that went unfinished.
