VILLANOVA, Pa. – In a contest that came down to the second singles match, the Monmouth University women's tennis team was just edged by Villanova University, 4-3 on Sunday morning.
Villanova took an early lead in the match with the doubles point after picking up victories at first and second doubles.
Lenien Jamir and
Lauren Landstrom were locked in a 5-5 tie at third doubles but that match went unfinished as the Wildcats had secured the point.
The Hawks got wins from
Hana McKinney at third singles, Jamir at fourth singles and
Madison Mills at sixth singles.
Villanova had secured wins at first and fifth singles and the two side were tied at 3-3.
Valieriia Kornieva and
Nitika Girish found themselves tied at 1-1 at second singles and the match went to a third set tiebreaker. Kornieva was able to take the third set and secure the win for Villanova.
