WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Monmouth University Men's Basketball redshirt freshman Jaret Valencia was named the CAA Rookie of the Week, league officials announced Monday morning. Valencia averaged 8.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.5 blocks last week.
 
Valencia became the seventh Hawk to block six shots in a game Thursday against William & Mary, finishing with 11 points, six blocks and four rebounds in the MU victory. He added six points, nine rebounds and a block to go with three assists Saturday at Northeastern to complete a strong week.
 
Valencia is the fourth Hawk to earn a CAA weekly award this season, joining Xander Rice, who was CAA Player of the Week twice, and Abdi Bashir Jr., who won Rookie of the Week in November.
