WILLIAMSBURG, VA – Zoë Klapman had a win at sixth singles to lead the Monmouth University women's tennis team in a 4-1 loss to Drexel in the first round of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championship on Thursday.
Klapman, who played in her final match as one of two Hawk seniors, earned a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Katerina Cummings at sixth singles for Monmouth's point in the match. She closed the season with seven straight singles victories.
Drexel had grabbed an early advantage in the match by claiming the doubles point. The Dragons earned wins at first and third doubles to secure the point. The second doubles team of
Lana Brezanin and
Jordyn Pax was battling in a 5-2 set but that match went unfinished after the point was secured.
Drexel earned wins at first and third singles to take a 3-0 lead in the match. Klapman got the Hawks on the board with her win at sixth singles. The Dragons took the match with a win at fifth singles.
