MEN’S LACROSSE DROPS CAA CONTEST TO HOFSTRA

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – The Monmouth University men's lacrosse team pulled within two goals early in the second half, but Hofstra answered with a four-goal run to put the game out of reach in an eventual 12-6 decision on Saturday afternoon at Kessler Stadium.

Gerard Kane scored four times to lead Hofstra's offense and Mac Gates made 15 saves in goal for the Pride. Connor Macrae and Matt Karsian each scored twice in the loss for Monmouth.

GAME NOTES
- The game was the third meeting all-time between Monmouth and Hofstra.
- Hofstra leads the all-time series 3-0.
- The game was the first between the two in West Long Branch.
- The Hawks wore their chrome helmets with gray jerseys and white shorts.
 
NUMBERS CRUNCH
- Connor Macrae scored twice to give him a team-high 17 goals this year. Macrae has 53 career goals.
- Matt Karsian scored twice to give him his second multi-goal game of the season. He has nine goals this year and 14 for his career.
- Cade Stratton scored once to increase his total to 16 on the season and 57 for his career.
- Stratton also had an assist, giving him a team-high 23 points this year and 97 in his career.
- Scooter Whiteside scored his first goal of the 2023 season and the fourth of his career.
- Sean Ketchen added an assist, his sixth of the year.
- Matt Soutar won 11-of-21 faceoffs and led Monmouth with 10 ground balls.
- Whiteside led Monmouth with two caused turnovers.
- Andrew Kuhlman made 11 saves, giving him five double-digit save games this year.
