NEWPORT NEWS, VA – The Monmouth University men's tennis team continued its strong play with a decisive 4-0 victory over Hampton on Friday afternoon.
 
With the win, Monmouth secured its first CAA victory in program history. The Hawks opened the match with a pair of doubles wins to claim the point before reeling off three straight singles wins to cement the victory. Dmitry Bezborodov and Niels Van Noord took a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles while Gabriel Busato and Victor Castro came away with a 6-2 win at No. 2.

In singles, Bezborodov cruised to a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 2, Castro won in straight sets at the third position and Diego Laporta was dominant at No. 6, winning 6-0, 6-1. Laporta has won his last three singles decisions and Castro won his third in a row.

Monmouth's win marked its fifth consecutive as a team as it improved to 11-4 on the year and 1-1 against CAA teams.
