WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Five players scored two goals each to lead the Monmouth University women's lacrosse team to a 12-9 win over Columbia University on Saturday afternoon in Kessler Stadium. The Hawks won their second straight game with the victory.Â

Cassidy Orban led the Hawks with two goals and three assists in the game. She also added four draw controls, two ground balls and a caused turnover.
Maddie Murphy and
Ella Spears each contributed two goals and one assist for the Hawks while
Brianna Falco had four caused turnovers and six draw controls. Sophie Zachara had three goals and three draw controls for Columbia.

Trailing 3-1 in the first period, the Hawks orchestrated a 6-0 run that turned the two-goal deficit into a 7-3 advantage. That run bridged the first and second periods and covered a nearly 10-minute span. Orban and Spears each had two goals and an assist in that stretch.Â

Columbia scored the final three goals of the second period but the Hawks took a 7-6 lead at the half.Â

Monmouth scored the first two goals of the third period and held a 9-7 lead with 15 minutes to play. Goals from

Danielle McNeely in the fourth quarter helped Monmouth close out a 12-9 win.
