RICHMOND, Va. - Monmouth graduate student offensive lineman
Justin Szuba was named one of the two 2022 CAA Football Scholar-Athletes of the Year, sharing the honor with New Hampshire quarterback Max Brosmer.
Szuba earned a 4.0 grade point average while completing his Bachelor's degree in History Education. He is currently pursuing a Public Communications graduate certificate.
Szuba, a second-team Academic All-America honoree in 2022 from the College Sports Communicators, was also a CoSIDA Academic All-American in 2019. He has earned FCS ADA Academic All-Star status on two occasions and is a two-time member of Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society.
On the field, Szuba earned third-team All-CAA accolades this season, which was the third time in his career that he's received all-conference recognition. He helped pave the way for a Hawks' attack that led the CAA and ranked in the top 15 nationally in total offense (461.7 ypg) and scoring offense (36.4 ppg).
Nominees for the CAA Football Scholar-Athlete of the Year must have senior standing academically with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0. In honor of his achievement Szuba will receive a scholarship to be used for future educational expenses.
In addition to Szuba's honor, a total of 55 Monmouth football student-athletes were recognized with a place on the Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll for achieving a minimum grade point average of 3.0 during the fall academic term.
