MONMOUTH WLAX ROLLS TO 18-9 WIN OVER GEORGE MASON

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Cassidy Orban, Caroline Brennan and Shea Berigan each scored four goals to lead the Monmouth University women's lacrosse team to a resounding 18-9 win over George Mason on Friday afternoon in the season opener.
 
Brennan had two assists to go along with her four tallies and finished with a team-high six points. Orban had the four goals and one assist for five points while Berigan had the four goals in her collegiate debut. Shannon Tuozzo had three goals and two assists for George Mason. 
 
The Hawks jumped out to an early advantage as they struck four times in the first period. Highlighting that period were goals from Danielle McNeely and Grace Curtin that were separated by just 23 seconds. Monmouth scored the first two goals of the second period and pushed its lead to 6-0. George Mason got on the board late in the second period but the Hawks led 6-2 at the break. 
 
Monmouth scored seven times in the third period, including the first three goals of the stanza and the final three goals. Brennan and Orban completed their hat tricks in that period while Berigan notched the first two goals of her career. Monmouth led 13-6 heading to the fourth period. The Hawks tacked on five more goals in the game's final stanza to close out the 18-9 win. Berigan had two more goals while Mya Brock, Orban and Brennan all had a goal and an assist.
