WASHINGTON – The Monmouth University men's soccer team posted its second straight shutout on Tuesday night, earning a 2-0 decision over Howard University on the road in the nation's capital.
 
The Hawks got on the board first in the 12^th minute. Following a Howard yellow card, Luke McBeth converted on a penalty kick opportunity to give Monmouth the early 1-0 advantage. The score remained stagnant until the 84^th minute when freshman Kristian Loenvig found the back of the net for the first time in his career off an assist from Jonas Lyshoj.
 
Reigning CAA Rookie of the Week Eryk Dymora posted his second consecutive clean sheet in goal for the Hawks, making three saves which all came in the first half.
 
NOTES
-The Hawks have started 2-0 for the first time since 2012
-It's the first time they've started a season with back-to-back shutouts since 2011
-Monmouth is now 3-1-1 against Howard all-time
-McBeth's goal was the third of his career
-Lyshoj notched the third assist of his career
-Calum Ferguson, Gabriel Miranda, and Brett Sieg each made their 2022 debuts
-Miranda also made his first appearance as a Hawk
