MEN’S LACROSSE WINS CONFERENCE OPENER AT QUINNIPIAC

HAMDEN, CT – The Monmouth University men's lacrosse team trailed early in the fourth quarter before coming away with a 9-8 victory against Quinnipiac in the Hawks' MAAC opener on Saturday afternoon at Quinnipiac Lacrosse Stadium.

The tightly contested matchup saw the home side jump out to a 3-1 lead after the first quarter and featured ties at halftime and through three quarters. Each team made runs as Monmouth answered a 4-2 deficit with a string of five consecutive goals surrounding halftime to create a 7-4 cushion. Quinnipiac responded with a string of four straight goals to take an 8-7 lead early in the fourth quarter.

From there, Monmouth tied the game on an excellent individual effort by Max Brooks before Devin Pipher scored the game winner with four minutes to play. Connor Macrae scored three times, Brooks and Pipher each had a pair while Noah Lode made 15 saves in goal to support the victory.

- Monmouth won its third consecutive game overall and improved to 4-3 on the year.
- The Hawks are now 2-3 away from home in 2022.

NUMBERS CRUNCH
- Connor Macrae registered his seventh career hat trick and his 19th goal in his last five games. His 19 goals over a five game span ties the program record set by Bryce Wasserman in 2018. Macrae leads the team with 20 goals this season and has 34 for his career.
- Macrae became the fifth different Hawk to score 20 goals in a season in program history and his 20 goals rank seventh on the single-season list.
- Noah Lode finished with 15 saves to secure his 25th career victory.
- Monmouth is 4-0 this season and 35-10 since 2017 when holding its opponent under 10 goals.
- Max Brooks and Devin Pipher each scored twice in the win.
- Brooks is second on the team with 11 goals this season and has 34 for his career. Brooks now has 53 career points, good for 10th in program history.
- Pipher has five goals and six assists this year for 11 points.
- Pipher recorded his second multi-goal game and his game-winning goal was his second of the season.
- Luke Cole and Terrance Lacewell each added goals for MU.
- Cole scored his fifth of the season and he has a goal in four consecutive games.
- Lacewell's goal was the first of his career.
- Cade Stratton contributed two assists and David Cormack had one.
- Stratton increased his career points total to 67 and passed Dylan Schulte (2014-18) to move into sixth on the all-time list.
- Stratton became the fourth Hawk in program history to hand out 30 career assists, joining Bryce Wasserman (50), Griffin Figel (40) and Eamon Campbell (30).
- Cormack has eight points this year and 33 for his career.
- Five different Hawks picked up two ground balls in the game.
- Garrett Klurman led Monmouth with two caused turnovers, giving him six on the year and 23 for his career.
