WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ- Monmouth University graduate student running back Owen Wright has been invited to play in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl on January 28, 2023 in Pasadena, CA at the legendary Rose Bowl.
 
Wright capped his career with an invite to the NFPA Bowl after finishing last season with 16 rushing touchdowns and 304 rushing yards. The Bethesda, MD native was fourth in the nation in rushing touchdowns and helped Monmouth convert numerous third and fourth downs. Primarily used in short yardage situations, he accumulated almost 700 rushing yards and 20 total touchdowns in two years at Monmouth. A first team All-Colonial Athletic Association selection this season, he was recently named fourth team All-American by Phil Steele. Wright's 9.3 points per game in 2023 was eighth among all players in the NCAA FCS.
 
Wright's grandfather, Brig Owens, played safety for the then-Washington Redskins for 11 seasons from 1966-77.
