Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

MONMOUTH BASKETBALL FALLS FRIDAY TO CORNELL, 81-63

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Monmouth University Men's Basketball (0-6) put four in double-figures, led by freshman Jack Collins' 17 points, but fell to Cornell University (5-1) Friday 81-63.

Cornell scored the first five points of the second half to lead by 17 and were able to hold Monmouth off from that point. MU got within 19 on a Klemen Vuga triple, and Tahron Allen netted all 15 of his points in the final period but the Big Red ultimately won the non-conference tilt by 18.

With Cornell up 8-4, MU used a 14-1 run that included two Collins triples to take a nine-point lead. The Big Red responded with a push to get it tied, only to see Collins make another triple and Klemen Vuga convert twice inside to push the Hawks lead to seven. Cornell finished the period on a run of their own to lead 39-27 into the locker room.
