APPALACHIN, NY – Monmouth University Men's Golf capped off a strong weekend at the Matthews Auto Intercollegiate, placing fourth in the 10-team field with three Hawks in the top-20, led by Matt McCormick finishing fifth in the 59-player field.
 
McCormick opened with a two-under par 70 to rank third after Day One, one of just eight scores under par in the tournament on the opening day. He finished the tournament with a two-over par 74 to end up even for the 36 holes and tied for fifth. Erik Stevens posted two solid 70's rounds to rank 19^th, while Travis Dix was just one shot back of that at T20. Colin McCullagh finished strong with a 75, placing T33, while the MU lineup was rounded out by Ethan Lee, who was T44.
 
NOTES


-Matt McCormick posted his first career top-five finish.
-This ranks as the best tournament of McCormick's collegiate career.
-MU broke 300 in each round of the tournament for the first time this season.
-McCormick's opening round 70 is tied for the lowest by a Hawk this season (Dix and Stevens at Ryan T. Lee Memorial).
-MU shot 299 in the opening round and 295 in the final round to place fourth, five shots back of Niagara in third.
-Lehigh won the tournament, finishing 19 strokes above MU.
