JIMMY ROBERTSON ADDED TO FOOTBALL STAFF

West Long Branch, NJ- Monmouth University Head Football Coach Kevin Callahan has announced the addition of former FDU-Madison Head Coach Jimmy Robertson has joined the staff in the role of quarterbacks coach.

Robertson, who recently spent the past year at the helm of the Division III FDU-Madison program, will also serve as pass game coordinator for the Hawks.

"Coach Robertson is a great addition to our coaching staff," said Callahan. "His experience working with the quarterback position and his time as a head coach compliment the strengths of our offense coaches, and make him a great fit for Monmouth."

Robertson, the 2021 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Football Coach of the Year, guided the Devils to a record of 7-4 in his first year as the head coach in Madison. The Devils won their first ECAC Bowl game in program history in 2021, with FDU counting an All-American, two all-region and six all-conference honorees among its ranks. Robertson was the Devils' QB Coach and Offensive Coordinator in 2019 with his squad finishing with the top offense in the conference and the ninth-ranked pass offense in the nation. In all, Robertson's offense set over 30 single-game, single-season, career and program records. He was also credited with creating a new alumni association for football and implanting player development and recruiting plans.

"The opportunity to come to Monmouth is a dream come true," said Robertson. "The opportunity to join Coach Callahan's staff and everything he's built here coupled with the fact that they recently joined the CAA makes it even more exciting. The most important factor for me were the great people at Monmouth, including the coaches and staff surrounding the program. To be able to coach at one of the top FCS programs in the nation, one that is in the top-25 year in and year out, it is an honor."

Prior to his time at FDU, Robertson spent three seasons at the US Merchant Marine Academy. He began his time in Kings Point by mentoring the wide receivers before moving on to the quarterbacks where he mentored a pair of all-league selections. Robertson played professionally for two years following graduation as part of the Plattling Blackhawks of the German Football League.

"We are extremely excited to have Jimmy and his family join our staff," said Monmouth Offensive Coordinator Jeff Gallo. "We've always been impressed with the success he's had at his previous stops and have enjoyed working with him in our camps and clinics. We knew he would fit well with our team and staff family dynamic. Jimmy's experiences will help us continue building an attacking, explosive offense while further developing our quarterback room."

Robertson is a 2010 graduate for Rensselaer Polytech Institute where he was a four-year starting QB and a two-year captain for the Engineers. He helped guide RPI to four post-season appearances while compiling a four-year starting record of 31-9 overall. A 2018 inductee to the RPI Hall of Fame, Robertson was the 2008 Liberty League Player of the Year and was a four-time all-league selection while in Troy.

The Yonkers, NY native will step into a quarterback room that features two-time First Team All-Big South quarterback Tony Muskett. On Tuesday Monmouth announced that it was moving to the Colonial Athletic Association in all sports as of July 1, 2022.
