NORTH CHARLESTON, SC – Monmouth University (2-1, 1-0 Big South) wrapped up a three-game road swing on Saturday night with a convincing 41-14 win over Charleston Southern (1-1, 0-1 Big South).

Juwon Farri ran for three first half touchdowns while
Tony Muskett threw two more and the defense forced two turnovers and had four sacks in Monmouth's conference opening victory.

Farri piled in for three short touchdowns to give the Hawks 21-0 lead with 12:12 left in the second quarter. CSU QB Jack Chambers scored his first of two touchdowns on the ground to cut the lead to two scores but Muskett and Greene connected for 10 yards with 1:53 remaining in the frame to push the lead to three TDs.
Lorenzo Hernandez blocked a CSU punt that led to a 30-yard
Nick Null field goal to end the first half scoring at 31-7.

Charleston Southern tallied the first score in the second half on a 20-yard Chambers run up the middle. The Hawks answered back with a 24-yard
Assanti Kearney TD reception to push the Monmouth lead to 38-14 with 7:38 left in the third. Null converted a 22-yard field goal with 11:04 to play in regulation to finish the scoring.

"It was a really good road win, a good way to begin conference play. We came down here to be 1-0 on the night and 1-0 in the conference and I think we accomplished that in an impressive way. Having said that, there are still a lot of things I think we can do better, things we need to improve. I was very happy with the way we complimented ourselves as a team. Defense would get turnovers, the offense put it in the endzone and when they did score our offense answered right back."
