MEN’S LACROSSE HOLDS OFF QUINNIPIAC, 10-8

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – A tie game in the third quarter shifted Monmouth's way as the Hawks scored three of the final four goals to defeat Quinnipiac, 10-8, in men's lacrosse on Saturday afternoon at Kessler Stadium.

Timely goals by Mike McIntyre and Matt Karsian late in the third quarter put the Hawks ahead for good. The visiting Bobcats cut the deficit to 9-8 with a man-up goal early in the fourth, but Cade Stratton scored his second goal of the day with nine minutes to play to finish off the scoring.

Monmouth's balanced attack showed up again as eight different Hawks found the back of the net in the win. Defensively, MU forced 20 Quinnipiac turnovers and outshot the Bobcats 43-31.

- The Hawks improved to 4-1 on the year and 3-1 in conference play.
- Monmouth has its best five-game start in program history.
- The Hawks moved back into a tie for first place in the MAAC with Manhattan and Detroit Mercy.
- It was Monmouth's second win all-time against Quinnipiac and the first at home.
- The Hawks wore their blue chrome helmets with white jerseys and midnight blue shorts.

NUMBERS CRUNCH
- Cade Stratton had a team-best four points on two goals and two assists. 
- It was Stratton's second multi-goal game of 2021 and the seventh of his career. Stratton leads MU with nine goals and 14 points and now has 24 goals and 39 points for his career. Stratton also had a team-high six ground balls.
- Max Brooks put in two goals for the second straight game and extended his point streak to six games. Brooks has five goals on the year and 16 for his career.
- Zach Clemente scored once to give him six goals on the season and 35 for his career. Clemente also added an assist in the win. 
- Connor Macrae contributed a goal and an assist, giving him his third multi-point game of the year. Macrae has five goals and three assists on the year.
- Dwayne Mattushik, Matt Karsian, Andrew Duswalt and Mike McIntyre each scored once for Monmouth. Mattushik's goal was his sixth, McIntyre and Duswalt each put in their second goal of 2021 and Karsian scored his first collegiate goal.
- Scooter Whiteside led the Hawks with a career-high three caused turnovers.
Noah Lode made seven saves in goal.
