Poughkeepsie, NY- Marist College (2-0) outscored Monmouth University (1-1) 7-5 in the second half to upset the preseason favorite Hawks, 15-11 at Tenney Stadium on Friday night.

Monmouth senior
Nicole Ceraso (Massapequa, NY/Plainedge) became Monmouth's all-time leader in points at 252 after tallying a trio of goals and an assist. Ceraso surpassed former All-American and Hall of Famer Heather Bryan who held the record for 20 years.

The Red Foxes brought a two-goal lead into the second half and despite battling the entire 30 minutes, Monmouth would get no closer. Three unanswered goals by Marist gave them a 14-9 lead with 6:57 remaining. The Hawks would score twice more but Red Fox goalie Delaney Galvin turned away shot after shot while Monmouth repeatedly squandered free position opportunities. Galvin finished with 13 saves in the win.

Marist pulled ahead first 1-0 on an extra man advantage early in the game but Monmouth answered and eventually built a 4-2 lead. The Red Foxes returned the favor, outscoring Monmouth 6-1 in 17 of the last 18 minutes of the half, using two extra-player opportunities to build an 8-5 lead. Ally Turturro scored her second goal of the half with 31 seconds remaining to cut the Marist lead to two heading into halftime.
