WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ- Monmouth University's football team placed 16 players on the 2021 All-Big South teams, including 11 first team selections the conference announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Monmouth's 16 overall players and 11 first-team selections were the most of any team in the eight-team conference.

Monmouth's offense, the top scoring unit in the conference at 32.0 points per game, featured eight of 11 starters. Sophomore quarterback
Tony Muskett earned back-to-back first team honors after throwing for a league-high 2,651 yards and 25 touchdown passes compared to just six interceptions. Muskett threw four touchdowns in a game on three different occasions while completing 65.1 percent of his passes.

Senior Lonnie Moore earns his third consecutive first team all-league honor after finishing with 73 receptions for 800 yards and six touchdowns. The explosive receiver had 129.73 all-purpose yards per game (second in the Big South) while recording four 100-yard receiving games. Redshirt junior
Juwon Farri had 705 rushing yards despite missing three games due to injury. Farri had three 100-yard games and had eight rushing touchdowns, the second most among conference running backs.

The offensive line featured two first team selections in seniors
AJ Farris and
Mahmoud Shabana. Farris started every contest at center and is a two-time first team all-league selection along with being named as the 2020 FCS Rimington Award winner. Shabana, Monmouth's perennial starter at left tackle, earns his second consecutive First Team All-Big South conference honor after blocking for the league's leader in passing yards and touchdowns.

The defensive unit had three first team selections, led by defensive backs
Anthony Budd and
Eddie Morales III. Budd earns his third consecutive first team nod after finishing with 60 tackles from his safety position. The fifth-year senior missed two-plus games with an injury but still managed to finish third on the team in tackles and recorded a pick-six against Princeton. Morales started all 11 games at defensive back, finishing second in the conference in interceptions with three. Morales chipped in with 57 tackles, a sack and nine passes defended to earn his second straight first team all-conference honor. Joining the defensive backs on the first team was linebacker Eddie Hahn who was second on the team in tackles with 65 takedowns and 45 solo stops. Hahn was second on the team in tackles for a loss with 8.5 and was a disrupted force on defense with seven passes defended and two sacks.

The specialists were well represented with three members earning first team all-conference honors. Punter
Ryan Kost picks up back-to-back All-Big South honors after averaging 44.3 yards per punt which led the conference and finished eighth in the NCAA. Kost had 12 punts of 50+ yards and 17 of his 40 punts were downed inside the opponent's 20-yard line. Moore IV was once again one of the nation's top kickoff return threats, averaging 25.7 yards per return with a 91-yard return for a touchdown against Kennesaw State. Moore, Monmouth's all-time leader in kickoff return yards led the conference in that category with 540 yards in 2021. Morales reprised his role as the league's top punt returner earning First Team All-Big South honors for the second time in his career. The redshirt senior led the conference in punt return yards while averaging 9.9 yards per return this season.

Wideout
Terrance Greene Jr. headed up three second team selections on offense. Greene Jr. was Monmouth's second leading receiver with 604 yards in 10 games with five touchdown receptions. The three-time all-conference selection had a pair of 100-yard performances and had four receptions of 45+ yards this season. Scott started every contest as tight end for the Hawks, helping block for the league's top scoring offense while catching 15 passes for 148 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Syracuse closes out his career with his first all-conference selection after starting all 11 games at guard this season. The Nyack, NY product appeared in 36 games in his career for the Blue & White.

Lorenzo Hernandez and defensive back
Tyrese Wright earn their first All-Big South honors of their careers. Hernandez was a consistent nuisance this season, leading the team in tackles for a loss and sacks with 10.5 and 5.0, respectively. Wright led the Hawks in tackles with 71 while recording a team-high nine pass breakups and 10 passes defended. Â Â

Additionally, Morales was named to the Big South All-Academic Team. He recently was named CoSIDA Academic All-Disctrict II selection and has earned a 3.81 grade point average and will graduate with a degree in criminal justice in May.

Monmouth finished the season with a 7-4 overall mark and a 6-1 record in the Big South.
