ORLANDO, FL – The Monmouth University cross country teams battled their MAAC rivals at the conference championships on Saturday, October 30. The men finished second overall out of 11 squads while the women placed fourth.

Louis DiLaurenzio was the top finisher for the men in the 8k event, crossing the line 12th with a time of 25:21.9. Cameron Janovic (15th, 25:27.0) and James Hoffman (18th, 25:37.8) also earned top 20 finishes on the men's side, while Luke Miller claimed a spot on the MAAC Cross Country All-Rookie Team with his time of 25.41.9, good for 21st overall.

Sammi Ragenklint finished second overall in the 6k race with a time of 21:03.1, pacing the women's team. Mackenzie Jones placed tenth overall, clocking in at 21:43.3. Katie Locker was third among the Monmouth women, earning a 24th place result with a time of 22:34.7.

NOTEABLE FINISHES & QUOTES
"We're very proud of the way the student-athletes competed today at the MAAC Championships.  The men got us started this morning and they executed our race plan to perfection.  We wanted to run conservatively early on and then really close strong the last 2k. That plan sounds easy to do but it takes an incredible amount of patience and confidence.  Each one of them moved up a few spots and that was the difference.

The women also had a strong showing.  I'm not sure if we've ever had two runners in the top ten.  It was fun to watch Sammi duke it out with the leaders and finish strong over the last mile.  Mackenzie Jones also closed strong and earned a top 10 finish.  We were hoping to finish a little better as a team, but I thought we raced as well as we could on the day.

Now we turn out focus to the NCAA Regional meet at Lehigh.  We've raced that course twice this year, so we're very familiar." - Head Coach Mike Nelson

- The men tied their best-ever result at the MAAC Championships with their second-place finish
- The women equaled their result from last season by placing fourth overall. They have finished fourth or better at seven of the nine MAAC Championships they've competed in
- DiLaurenzio was the third-highest finisher among non-Iona runners
- Matt Bodon (26th, 25:49.4) and Shane Ainscoe (28th, 25:51.9) both placed in the top-30, with Carrington Retzios (32nd, 25:59.7) rounding out the top seven for the Monmouth men
- Allie Pierontoni (22:49.9), Isabella Leak (22:51.0), and Marisa Kilgarriff (22:52.2) finished 29th, 30th, and 31st, respectively
- Rachael Mongeau crossed the line in 38th place with a time of 23:06.6, a new personal best
