WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Siena College (8-5, 4-1 MAAC) scored eight second half goals to erase a halftime deficit and hand Monmouth University (9-4, 3-1 MAAC) its first conference loss on Saturday.

The Saints scored the first three goals of the second half to take a two-goal lead on Monmouth before Rachel Mills (Denville, NJ/Morris Catholic/Towson) tallied a pair of goals to tie the game up with 18:23 left in the contest. The two teams traded goals from the 17:31 mark until the 11:29 mark when sophomore Caroline Bleck (Farmingdale,  NY/Farmingdale) tied the game at 10-10. Seina's Kaitlyn Dowsett scored the go-ahead goal with 4:45 before Nicole McNeeley scored her first of the game to put the Saints up 12-10 with 2:45 remaining. Junior Chloe Novak (Landsdale, PA/North Penn) scored with 37 seconds left but the Hawks couldn't regain possession in the final seconds.

The win marked the first time that Monmouth has lost to Siena in school history. Seina's Kerry Gerety led all scorers with four points on three goals and an assist while Mills led the Hawks with a trio of goals.

Notes & Quotes

"I thought today we came out flat and allowed Siena to hang around for too long which unfortunately in this conference is very dangerous. I appreciate the effort we have continued to put forth in tough situations but we need to take the next step in our play and take complete control when faced with adversity." Monmouth Head Coach Jordan Trautman
