ARMY SCORES IN FINAL SECONDS TO UPEND MONMOUTH, 15-14

WEST POINT, NY- Army West Point's (6-0) Caroline Raymond scored with 17 seconds remaining to complete the comeback and hand Monmouth (3-1) Women's Lacrosse team its first loss of the season Saturday afternoon in West Point.

The Hawks had built a 8-3 lead in the first half and held a six goal lead with 11:26 remaining on a Jenny Staines goal that put the Hawks up 14-8. Over the final 10:39 of the contest Army scored seven unanswered goals as the Black Knights won every draw control and only allowed two shots during that span.  Monmouth goalie Riley Brager made a couple of key saves down the stretch but late turnovers plagued the Hawk's offensive effort. Army's Jackie Bratton led the Black Knights with four goals and an impressive 11 draw controls with the home team winning 23 of 28 possible draw controls.

The Hawks were led by Staines, who finished with four goals and an assist. Caroline Bleck, Rachel Mills and Logan Smet each had two goals for the Hawks. Defensively Mackenzie Rendich had three ground balls, a pair of draw controls and caused turnovers to MU.

Monmouth dominated the first half of play, earning a 8-3 lead at halftime, with Brager making seven saves. The Hawks had five different players score as they built the five-point lead going into the lockeroom.
