MEN’S LACROSSE DROPS CONTEST AT DELAWARE


NEWARK, DE – Delaware jumped out to an early lead and never trailed in an eventual 8-4 victory over the Monmouth men's lacrosse team on Saturday afternoon at Delaware Stadium.

The Blue Hens scored the first five goals, including four in the first quarter, before Anthony Sardo's fourth goal of the year with two minutes left in the opening half. Delaware extended its lead to 6-1 with five minutes left in the third, before back-to-back goals by Griffin Figel pulled Monmouth within three.

Delaware's defense held strong and the Blue Hens added two more goals to put the game away prior to Figel completing his hat trick with 34 seconds remaining.

NUMBERS CRUNCH
- Griffin Figel registered his third-career hat trick. Figel now has 37 goals and 61 points in his career.
- Anthony Sardo scored his fourth goal of the season. Sardo has at least one goal in four straight games dating back to last season and 17 goals in his career.
- Eamon Campbell added one assist in the loss. Campbell has two assists on the year and 63 points for his career.
- Noah Lode tied the Monmouth single game record with 16 saves in goal for Monmouth. It was Lode's 14th career double-digit save effort and the third time in his career with 16 saves in a game.
- Ian Weinberg went 12-for-16 on faceoffs and picked up six ground balls. The 12 faceoff wins are tied for sixth most in a game in program history.

Monmouth faces a quick turnaround for its next contest. The Hawks will host Wagner at Kessler Stadium on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
