HEMPSTEAD, NY – The Monmouth University men's lacrosse team came out on the losing end of a 7-6 decision against No. 19 Hofstra on Wednesday afternoon at James M. Shuart Stadium.

Hofstra jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the game and never trailed despite Monmouth battling back to tie the score on three separate occasions. Hunter Jones put in his second goal of the day to level the score at six apiece with 9:30 remaining, but Hofstra's Bryce Tomlie recorded the man-up game-winning goal with 1:39 left to push the Pride ahead for good.

In addition to Jones, Brock Anderson scored twice for Monmouth in the loss. Ryan Tierney registered a hat trick and added an assist for Hofstra.

"Coach Tierney and his staff do a good job preparing for opponents and always have a disciplined tough team, so we knew going into today's game it was going to be a battle. While the outcome wasn't what we had hoped for, we are happy with the energy and effort that we played with today and the improvements that we made this week. - Hofstra won its third consecutive game after it knocked off North Carolina, 12-6, on Saturday.

- Monmouth has outscored its opponents 21-7 in the fourth quarter of games this season.
- Brock Anderson scored the first two goals of his career. Both goals were scored on extra-man opportunities. The last Monmouth player to score two man-up goals in a game was Anthony Sardo (March 25, 2017 vs. Siena).
- Hunter Jones scored twice to give him a team-leading 11 on the season.
- Bryce Wasserman scored his 10th goal of the season and the 75^th goal of his career.
- Wasserman extended his program-best points streak to 22 games and his goals streak to eight games.
- Griffin Figel scored his fourth goal of the season and he has has a point in every game this season.
- Dylan Schulte, Rudy Beck and Zach Clemente contributed assists. Schulte has at least one point in every game this year.
- Garrett Pfeifer led Monmouth with a career-high four caused turnovers, the most since Reed Zak '17 had five against Manhattan on April 28, 2017. The last time a Monmouth player caused four turnovers in a game was Neil Ruppert '17 at Quinnipiac (3/18/17).
- Pfeifer and Chris Hervada led Monmouth with four ground balls apiece.
- Noah Lode made eight saves in goal for Monmouth.
- Hofstra won 11 of the game's 15 faceoffs.
