HAMMOND ON OPENING NIGHT
Deion Hammond netted 20+ points for the first time in his career on opening night, hitting for 21 against Lehigh. He was 7-16 from the field and 4-11 from beyond the arc in leading Monmouth in scoring for the night. He has now gone into double figures 21 times in 32 career games.

SALNAVE CONTRIBUTES IN OTHER WAYS
Despite scoring just two points in the opener, Ray Salnave dished out a career-high six assists against Lehigh while collecting four steals, one off a career best, in 20 minutes.

NEWCOMERS MAKE THEIR DEBUTS
Four of Monmouth's newcomers debuted against Lehigh, including transfers Nick Rutherford and Trevon Gross Jr. Rutherford added four points and Gross had two steals, while freshman Samuel Chaput put home six points and classmate Nikkei Rutty went 2-for-3 from the floor to finish with four points and three boards. 

SCOUTING THE RAIDERS
Colgate was picked to finish third in the Patriot League in the conference's preseason poll. They competed in the CBI a season ago, and Coach Matt Langel was named the conference's Coach of the Year. Colgate fell on opening night to NJIT on the road.

SERIES NOTES
-The series began in 1988 with a Monmouth win.
-Colgate has won the last two in the series.
-Each game has been decided by one possession or less, including two of the three coming by one point.
-The last time the teams met took place in Boylan Gym, with Travis Taylor, Will Campbell and Alex Nunner scoring in double digits for the Hawks.
