HAWKS AGAINST THE CURRENT BIG 12
Monmouth has only played two games against current members of the Big 12 Conference in its history, going 0-2 in those games. MU played Kansas State on December 29, 2002, a 73-64 loss, before falling on November 14, 2014 to West Virginia in Morgantown, 64-54.
TRAORE RETURNS HOME
Mustapha Traore played his first career game back in his hometown of Philadelphia on Monday night at Saint Joseph's, and posted his third career double-figure effort of 12 points to go along with four rebounds and two blocks. His previous two double-digit efforts came in last season's non-conference stretch, scoring 13 vs. Penn in four overtimes and netting 10 at Yale as part of his first career double-double.
UNDER 30 IN THE HALF
MU held Saint Joseph's to a season low 29 points in the first half on Monday night, the first time this season they've held an opponent under 30 in any half. The last time MU did that to a non-conference opponent was allowing 19 second-half points to Penn last season before a four-overtime game ensued.
SALNAVE'S STRONG START
Ray Salnave has led Monmouth in scoring the last two games, scoring 16 and 14 points respectiverly. He put home a career high six field goals at Colgate, leading Monmouth with 16 points on 6-for-12 shooting. Salnave contributed three assists after a six-assist effort on opening night, while grabbing four rebounds.Â
