MEN'S LACROSSE TOPS MANHATTAN FOR NINTH STRAIGHT WIN

FINAL SCORE
Monmouth 7 (12-3, 6-0 MAAC)
Manhattan 3 (3-12, 0-6 MAAC)

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – The Monmouth University men's lacrosse team closed its 2017 regular season schedule with a strong defensive effort in a 7-3 victory over Manhattan on Friday afternoon at Hesse Field on The Great Lawn.

The Hawks captured their ninth consecutive victory and finished the MAAC portion of their schedule with an unblemished 6-0 record.

Monmouth forced Manhattan into 20 turnovers and led wire-to-wire in the four-goal triumph. Offensively, Bryce Wasserman and Eamon Campbell each scored twice, while Chris Daly, Dylan Schulte and Gordon Phillips added tallies.

NOTES & QUOTES
"Whenever you hold a team to a low number of goals, you have to feel good about the effort. There's still some things we need to clean up as we get ready for the conference tournament this week. It was a good, strong defensive performance, Nick Hreshko was pretty good today, and we have come to learn from our guys that they are tough, gritty and even when we aren't playing our best, we are going to grind and be hard to beat."
- Head Coach Brian Fisher

"We knew our opponent, we scouted them well and we did a good job executing our game plan. When you have a goalie like Nick Hreshko in the cage, you have the ability to go out and pressure guys and try to make certain plays because you are confident he will make saves like he did all day."
- Senior Reed Zak
