LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL – Paced by freshman Andy Stock's (Danbury, CT/Danbury) even 72 and junior Kyle Burke's (West Sayville, NY/Sayville [Sacred Heart]) one-over-par 73, the Monmouth University men's golf team shot 300 in the final round of the 2017 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships to finish tied for fourth overall.
Burke led the way over the three days, capping off his 225 with his one-over on Sunday to earn a piece of fifth overall on the individual leaderboard. The junior's finish is the best for the Hawks since Brady Goodling earned runner-up honors in 2014, MU's first year in the league. Stock's even round pushed the rookie to a tie for eighth overall, finishing one stroke behind Burke. Sophomore Drake Ferriter (Ramsey, NJ/Bergen Catholic) finished his tournament with 77 to compile a 54-hole score of 234, a shot in front of senior Tommy Whelan (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown West) who notched 78 on the final tour of the course. Senior Jesse Hazam (Mechanicsburg, PA/Mechanicsburg) turned in his best round of the tournament with 83 to finish with 259.
Saint Peter's rallied in the third round to win the event by three strokes over Siena and its Mike Winter earning the individual title by one shot with 220.

- Monmouth moved up five spots from its 2016 finish.
- The Hawks' 300 round is tied for the third best round of the season.
- It's the second time since the Hawks joined the league it had two players in the top-10.
- Andy Stock both set a new career-best 54-hole tournament total, while Kyle Burke tied his career low.
- Stock's 72 ties a career best for a round. The freshman finished the back nine with three birdies.
- Monmouth recorded 11 birdies on the day, led by Stock's four sub-par holes.
- Stock finished one-over on Par 3s and two-under on par-5s and Burke finished second in the field in Par 4.
- Burke finished third on the field with nine birdies with Stock finishing one birdie behind. The duo recorded 32 and 31 even holes, respectively.
- It was the final rounds for seniors Whelan and Jesse Hazam.
