FIRESTONE FINISHES SECOND AT HAWK INVITATIONAL

NEPTUNE, NJ - Monmouth University freshman Noah Firestone (Annvile, PA/Mt. Calvary Christian School) carded a two-over par 74 to finish in second place at the Hawk Invitational at Jumping Brook Country Club on Thursday afternoon. Firestone, who birdied two par-5's on the back nine, finished one stroke behind the event's individual medalist Tom Punnett (73) from Fairleigh Dickinson, who eagled the first hole.

FDU (297) inked the lowest team total of the day to claim team honors, while Iona (309) finished in second, Monmouth claimed third (316) and Lafayette finished in fourth position (324) at the par-72 course. Firestone finished in a tie for second place with Santiago Llatos from FDU.

Senior Kyle Deisher (Montgomery, PA/Montgomery Area) was the Hawks' next finisher, carding a 79 to finish in 11th place, while freshman Patrick Lehrkinder (Little Silver, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) finished in 14th position with an 81.

Junior Jesse Hazam (Mechanicsburg, PA/Mechanicsburg) claimed 16th place behind his 82 and junior Tommy Whelan (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown West) inked an 84 to finish in 20th position.

Playing as an individual at the event, freshman Drake Ferriter (Ramsey, NJ/Bergen Catholic) finished in a tie with Deisher for 11th place overall with a 79.

Monmouth returns to action on Monday, October 12 when the Hawks compete at the Manhattan Quad Match at the Huntington Club.
