WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - Monmouth University women's basketball junior guard
Alysha Womack (Springfield, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) has been named the Choice Hotels
Northeast Conference Player of the Week, the league office today announced.
Womack averaged 23.0 points per game on 60.0 percent shooting on the week,
including a career-high 27 points on 11-of-14 shooting Monday in a 70-50 win against
league-leading Sacred Heart.
Womack also averaged 3.5
rebounds and 2.0 steals per game in the Hawks' split of two games against NEC
leaders Quinnipiac and Sacred Heart. She began the weekend with a 19-point
effort on 7-of-16 shooting against the Bobcats. In both games, Womack had two
steals. For the weekend, Womack shot 60.0 percent (18-30), including 57.1
percent (4-7) from long distance. She was also perfect from the free-throw
line, knocking down all six of her attempts. For the season, Womack's scoring
average jumped to a team-high 14.8 points per game. She's now just 29 points
shy of 1,000 for her career with 971.

to action Saturday, when they begin NEC Rivalry Week against Garden State foe
Fairleigh Dickinson. Opening tip from the MAC is scheduled for 3 p.m.
