DEAL, N.J. - Senior Ian Thimble (Hyde Park, Mass./Boston College H.S.) carded a two over par 73 as the Monmouth University men's golf team took second at the MU Quad Match, Thursday afternoon at Deal Country Club. Saint Peter's took first with score of 301 followed by the Hawks, who posted a 304, while Fairleigh Dickinson registered a 312 and Lafayette shot 324.
Thimble finished two strokes behind Saint Peter's Eric Edmunds, who shot even par to earn the individual title. Sophomore Brady Goodling (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) and rookie Cody Gross (Babylon, N.Y./Babylon) each shot 75 on the afternoon to claim a share of fourth place, while senior Luke DeSimone (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) carded an 81 to land 14th overall. Second-year Hawk Colin Buckley (Duxbury, Mass./Boston College H.S.) earned 21st with a round of 85.
Competing as individuals, freshmen Kyle Deisher (Montgomery, Pa./Montgomery Area) and Andrew Wester (Concord, Mass./Concord Carlisle) finished out the day with an 82 and 83, good for 14th and 17th place, respectively.
Monmouth returns to the links on Sunday as it tees off in the first day of the Seton Hall Invitational in Chatham, N.J.
