BETHANY BEACH, DEL. - Monmouth University junior
Anthony Campanile (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional) fired a six-under par 66 to stand atop the leaderboard after day one of the George Washington Invitational at Bear Trap Dunes Golf Club on Saturday afternoon. Monmouth, which carded a 298, stands in a tie for fifth place out of 22 teams, after the first day of competition.
Campanile's 66 led the way for the Hawks in day one, while sophomore
Ryan Beck (Maple Glen, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) was the next MU finisher with a 75. Senior Andy Beittel (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) carded a 76, while
Dave Marshall (Glassboro, N.J./Glassboro) and freshman
Michael McComb (Egg Harbor Township, N.J./Egg Harbor Township) rounded out the Hawks' scorers with an 81 and 84, respectively.
Monmouth returns to action tomorrow in the final round of the GW Invitational.
