MIHAVETZ DEBUTS WITH WIN IN MU'S FALL INVITATIONAL

Tournament Details:
Monmouth Fall Invitational
Dates: September 21, 2017; One Round (18-holes)
Host: Monmouth
Location: Deal, NJ
Course: Deal Country Club
Course Vitals: 6,370 yards, par-71

DEAL, NJ – Making his collegiate debut, freshman Glen-Michael Mihavetz fired  two-under-par 69 to earn medalist honors as the Monmouth University men's golf team shot 299 en route to a third place finish at its annual invitational, Thursday afternoon at Deal Country Club.

Mihavetz, playing as an individual, shot 36 (+1) on the front nine before taking off three shots off on the back-nine en route to his two-under.  The rookie finished in a tie with Fairleigh Dickinson's Patrick Brennan but took home medalist honors via the USGA's recommended tiebreaking match card procedure, edging Brennan by three shots due to the back-nine results.

Also making his collegiate debut, Ron Robinson inked one-over par 72 to finish with a piece of seventh overall, followed by junior Drake Ferriter who carded 74 on the day.  Rookie Jimmy Criscione finished two shots behind Ferriter and a stroke ahead of senior Kyle Burke.  Nick Maff rounded out the Hawks' card, compiling 79 on the day.

Playing as individuals, Andy Stock and Patrick Lehrkinder both inked 77, while Chase Makowski registered 81.

NOTES & QUOTES
"Breaking 300 is our ultimate goal each tournament, but being that it is our home course I thought we should have done a little bit better.  I saw a couple of mental errors out there which hampered our final scoring, but overall I am pleased with our result in our second event of the year.  I am excited that our freshman scored so well in their first event and extremely pleased with the play of Glen-Michael, winning his first tournament with two-under 69." – Head Coach Dennis Shea

- The tournament featured six teams, four of which coming from the MAAC, and 36 competitors.
- All nine Hawks on the roster competed in the event.
- The Hawks recorded their second-straight sub-300 round.
- Glen-Michael Mihavetz joins Kyle Burke as the active Hawks to have won the invitational.
- Mihavetz, Andy Stock and Ron Robinson all scored one-under on par-3 holes.
- Mihavetz carded four birdies on the day, while Robinson, Nick Maff, Drake Ferriter, and Jimmy Criscione all sank three.
- Burke led the field with 13 even holes and posted his 40th career round in the 70s as a Hawk.
- Patrick Lehrkinder's 77 matches a career-low round.
