MONMOUTH AND THE BIG SOUTH RELEASE UPCOMING FOOTBALL TV SCHEDULE

CHARLOTTE, NC- Monmouth University and the Big South Conference have released the 2017 football television schedule, with the Hawks appearing on broadcasts a total of six times.
 
Monmouth's opening game on September 2 against Lafayette will be the first Big South "Game of the Week" of the year, airing exclusively on ESPN3. The game will be the first in brand new Kessler Stadium, and will be the first time the Leopards have traveled to West Long Branch. The following week the Hawks welcome Lafayette's bitter rivals, Lehigh University. Monmouth has won two straight in the series both at Goodman Stadium. That game will also air on ESPN3 and be simulcast on the Big South Network.
 
After four straight weeks on the road, Monmouth returns home on October 21 to host Liberty on ESPN3. The game will mark a run of four consecutive televised games for the Hawks, with ESPN3 tilts against Charleston Southern (10/28) and Presbyterian (11/4). The Hawks will host Gardner-Webb on November 11 in a game that will air on Stadium (formerly American Sports Network).
 
The Big South's package includes 10 total telecasts. ESPN3 will exclusively deliver seven games, while Stadium (formerly ASN) will televise the three remaining contests. Monmouth University's unique ESPN3 school production program will produce and air the Lehigh and Liberty games.

Monmouth Football will celebrate its 25th season in 2017 also the first season in the brand new 15 million dollar Kessler Stadium. The Hawks return eight starters on offense and six starters on defense. The offensive unit will be anchored by five returners along the line while redshirt sophomore Kenji Bahar will take snaps and have all-conference wide receiver Reggie White Jr. as a weapon. The defense returns consensus second-team All-American safety Mike Basile and the entire defensive backfield.
 
ESPN3 is ESPN's live multi-screen sports network, a destination that delivers thousands of exclusive sports events annually. It is accessible on computers, smartphones, tablets and connected devices through the ESPN App. The network is currently available nationwide at no additional cost to fans who receive their high-speed Internet connection or video subscription from an affiliated service provider. It is also available at no cost to U.S. college students and U.S.-based military personnel via computers, smartphones and tablets connected to on-campus educational and on-base military broadband and Wi-Fi networks.
 
Stadium will offer its Big South football productions to its Sinclair Broadcasting stations solely located in the conference's footprint of Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina, as well as New Jersey and Georgia.  Sinclair's broadcast stations will either carry the games as part of the primary program lineup (generally on the Company's CW and MyNet affiliates) or as part of second channels (sub-channels of the primary station's signal).
 
Stadium is a new multi-platform sports network featuring exclusive live and on-demand games and events, extensive highlights, classic games, original programming, and daily live studio programming. Stadium was formed when Campus Insiders, 120 Sports and The American Sports Network merged into a singular network to take advantage of a combined collection of professional and collegiate rights and unique access to both digital and television distribution opportunities. Stadium is owned by a collection of industry leaders including Silver Chalice, Sinclair, MLBAM, the NHL, the PGA TOUR, and Time, Inc. and will launch later this summer.
